How do I run my first test?

Review Privacy & Terms on first launch and enable network checks. In Speed, select a service or save your own HTTPS hostname. Tap Start, read the separate M-Lab disclosure, then choose Allow & Start Test. Download runs first, followed by upload, IP lookup and service latency. Open Faster to revisit results.

What am I agreeing to with M-Lab?

M-Lab collects your public IP and measurement data, retains test data indefinitely and publishes it for research. SpeedN remembers your first agreement for future tests that you start. Reset this permission in Net → Settings. Declining leaves other tools available. Clearing local history does not delete M-Lab's published data.

How much data does a speed test use?

Tests transfer real data for up to ten seconds in each direction and may use more than 1 GB on fast connections. Carrier charges may apply. SpeedN permits four bandwidth starts in a rolling 24-hour period; stopped tests count toward this limit.

Why did a test fail?

Check the active connection and try another service. A server may be unavailable, DNS may fail, or a secure connection may be blocked. An HTTP rejection is different from having no internet connection. Completed observations remain visible when a later phase fails or is stopped.

Does the selected country change my route?

In Speed, it labels your result. M-Lab selects its own server. In Net → Remote Probe, it selects an external Globalping probe. Neither feature changes your phone's route, connects a VPN or unlocks regional content.

Do the icons show radio signal strength?

No. They indicate HTTPS response quality: Excellent below 50 ms, Good below 100 ms, Fair below 200 ms, and Poor at 200 ms or more. HTTPS response time is not ICMP ping or Wi-Fi/cellular radio strength.

How can I manage or share my data?

Faster stores history locally. Delete individual results or use Net → Settings → Clear History. Share Report opens the iOS share sheet and excludes public IP. You may also withdraw general network permission or reset M-Lab permission in Settings.
